Ponies for sale

We bring ponies in from various sources. Some come from other lesson or show barns, some from friends and others are rescues. We try many many ponies before we add them to our program. They are all useful in some way; but some are more versatile than others. The prices reflect not their level of talent or suitability rather their fit with our current student base. The less expensive ponies simply have less value to us at this time. Because we close down for the winter, we sell or lease many of our lesson ponies each Autumn.

Finding an excellent new home is our number one concern when placing these hard-working animals.

SOLD: Found a new home in Virginia

Pongo - versatile Welsh/Appaloosa gelding

Pongo is a camp favorite. The boys in particular like him. He is a medium - about 12.2hh and is about 10 yo. He looks like a dalmation.  He is sturdy enough for an adult but easy enough for a beginning child. We love him but are very interested in moving him because he has taught lessons for 6 years. He needs a change. He is safe and lovely but very ring sour. He is lazy with a capital "L" in the ring.  Out in the jump field he is a different animal - happy, willing, easy to move. On the trails, he is a super star and we think he would be the perfect field hunter. He is happy to be lead or ponied and is a good natured boy. Although you can't tell, he is blind in one eye. We do find that if he is dozing and you approach him on his blind side, he is startled. Otherwise, we have seen no evidence of overcompensation.

                               SOLD
She has found a new lease on life with a local fox-hunt

picturegallery129988.tmp/squishyblake.JPG

Squishy is our "Big Easy". She is a chestnut roan cob. We got her from Rokeby show stables in McLean, where she was used as a lesson pony for several years. She is a bulky medium at about 13.2hh.She is about 9yo and is a very easy keeper. She can go on grass but is better with moderation. She likes her job; is very comfortable and willing. She is good for beginners and has helped to teach many adults and children to canter. She likes being in the ring but prefers to be in the jumping field or on the trails. She has been out fox chasing with a local hunt and did beautifully. If she doesn't sell, she is going to spend the winter at hunt camp with Newmarket Middletown Hounds.
